The Morrells online safety portal is a bespoke survey and audit tool designed to facilitate the safe maintenance and use of fire doors and other related fire safety assets across Morrells commercial premises.
The concept of an online safety portal was developed by Select Safety Group in response to the recommendations from the “Building a Safer Future” report, authored by Dame Judith Hackitt in 2018 after the Grenfell Tower tragedy.
This report called for systemic changes to improve fire safety, particularly in high-rise and complex buildings, advocating for simpler, outcome-based solutions rather than prescriptive rules.
The portal provides real-time, date-stamped survey results, offering instant access to vital fire safety data, such as fire door ratings, the condition of intumescent strips, signage, and door closers. All supported with photographic representations of safety related content.
The portal also provides a 360 degree virtual tour capability, showing all unrestricted spaces within a built environment. This tour is accessible via a desktop, tablet or smart phone and is laden with extra features such as hot spots, bespoke human avatars and video content of inaccessible spaces.
In addition, the portal provides an online library of safety related documentation and certificates which can be updated easily, accessed, downloaded and shared in just a few clicks.
This transparency and accessibility help in enhancing safety by providing stakeholders with up-to-date information, improving scheduling and staff allocation for safety checks and ongoing maintenance.
The portal supports the Golden Thread concept, which emphasises maintaining clear, accessible information throughout a building’s lifecycle.
Key principles of the Golden Thread include:
Information transparency
Digital documentation
Standardised data formats
Lifecycle management
Regulatory compliance
Fostering a culture of accountability
Continuous improvement in building safety.
Please note:
This portal is NOT a fire risk assessment tool; users are advised to hire qualified fire safety consultants for formal assessments to ensure compliance and mitigate fire hazards effectively.
